This episode features expert Lauren Fafulas-Fortunato LCSW, LCADC. Lauren is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker and a Licensed Clinical Alcohol and Drug Counselor. She received her undergraduate degree in Social Work from Rutgers University and her Graduate Degree in clinical Social Work from Fordham University. She has additional certifications in Perinatal Mood and Anxiety Disorders and Motivational Interviewing for Substance Abusers. She is the owner of Your Best Life, LLC a private practice that provides individual therapy with a strong focus in maternal mental health and substance abuse in both NJ and PA, and works at the Department of Veterans Affairs as an LCSW in which she oversees a contracted program that assists Veterans.

In this episode Lauren will discuss the signs and symptoms of a Perinatal Mood Disorders and how the global pandemic has effected new and expecting parents. She will dive into evidence based treatment interventions and tips for helping our clients to still find the joy during this maternal stage during a time of uncertainty.

Learning Objectives

  3. Recognize symptoms postpartum psychosis and know when and how to take action.
  4. Name 2 screening tools that are used to evaluate Perinatal Mood Disorders.
  5. Learn 2 interventions that can be used to treat Perinatal Mood Disorders.
